How to Choose a Voice for Your AI Voice Agent

Remove the Accent filter and Neutral gender option from the voice picker instructions to match the updated Agent Voices modal.

The AI Voice Agent voice catalog lets you browse all available voices, preview them by ear, and filter by language, gender, or age before committing to a choice. You can also try any voice during a test call without changing your agent's saved settings — the override resets automatically when you close the popup.

The voice catalog and AI Voice Agent are available on paid Zeeg plans.

How to change your agent's voice

  1. In your Zeeg dashboard, navigate to your AI Phone Agent and open the agent you want to configure.

  2. Click the Main Settings tab

  3. Find the Voice field and click the current voice name — or Select voice if no voice has been set yet. The Agent Voices catalog opens.

  1. Click the voice card you want to select it — a check mark confirms your selection.

  2. Click Save to apply the new voice to your agent, or Cancel to discard the change.

Tips:

  • To narrow the list, use any of the filter buttons at the top of the modal:

    • Languages — show only voices that support a specific languages

    • Gender — filter by Female or Male.

    • Age — filter by Young, Middle age, or Old.
(You can also type in the search field (Search voices...) to find a voice by name.

  • Hover over any voice card and click Play preview to hear a sample. Starting a new preview stops the previous one automatically. Click Stop preview to stop playback.

How to try a voice in a test call

The test call popup includes a voice picker that lets you hear any voice in a real conversation before changing your agent's permanent settings. The selection is temporary — it resets to your agent's saved voice every time you close the popup.

  1. From your AI Voice Agent page, click Test Agent to open the test popup.

  2. On the opening screen, click Call agent to advance to the test call screen.

  3. Below the orb you will see the voice picker strip — Choose a voice for this test call. Click any voice card to select it.

  4. The call starts automatically with the voice you selected. Hover over a voice card and click Play preview to hear a sample before calling.

  5. After the call ends, click Call again to start another test. You can pick a different voice between calls.

If your agent is configured for multiple languages, the voice you choose in the test popup applies to your agent's primary language only — for this test call only. Your saved agent configuration stays unchanged.

Frequently asked questions

Will the voice I pick during a test call be saved to my agent?

No. The test call voice picker is an ephemeral override — it is reset to your agent's saved voice every time you close the popup. To permanently change your agent's voice, use the Voice field on the Main Settings tab and click Save.

Can I filter by language to find voices that support my market?

Yes. Open the Agent Voices modal and click Languages to show only voices that support a specific language. Each voice card also displays small language flag icons so you can see at a glance which languages a voice covers.

What does it mean when a voice shows a warning that it is no longer offered?

A voice may be removed from the active catalog over time. If your agent is already using such a voice, it continues to work normally — there is nothing you need to do. However, once you switch to a different voice you will not be able to reselect the removed one. If you are happy with your current voice, leave it as is.

Can I preview a voice without starting a test call?

Yes. In the Agent Voices modal, hover over any voice card and click Play preview to hear a short audio sample. You can preview as many voices as you like before making a selection — no call credits are used for previews.

Can I combine multiple filters at once?

Yes. All filter buttons in the Agent Voices modal can be combined. For example, you can filter by Female gender and Young age at the same time to see only voices that match both criteria.
